Mammography
Screening at Fort Street (Victoria) · Diagnostic at East Broadway & Scott Road
Before your exam
- Don't wear lotion, powder or deodorant with talc near your breasts — it can obscure the images.
- If your breasts get tender before your period, book for a time when they won't be.
- Tell your healthcare provider if you have breast implants.
During your exam
- Remove jewellery and clothing above the waist and put on a gown.
- Each breast is briefly compressed to capture clear images. You may experience some pressure or discomfort.
After your exam
- Your breasts may be tender, but you can return to normal activities.
- Coming soon: Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) at our Hornby clinic, 1156 Hornby Street, Vancouver — November 2026.
